Start where you are and pivot forward to overcome defeat or any challenge you face!

The recent passing of Barbara E. Smith, a famous restauranteur and first black women to be featured on the cover of Mademoiselle brought me to one of her many inspirational quotes which is, “I have stood on a mountain of no’s for one yes.” This quote hit home as it became inspirational for me as I continue to grow my consulting organization and the no’s can sometimes cloud your resiliency quotient. So, what to do when a change, obstacle, disruption or a simple nofinds its way in preventing you in achieving your objectives and goals?

As COVID-19 continues to spread it has negatively impacted the economy resulting in an increase of furlough and termination notices. Through social media, many in my network have reached out asking for guidance as it pertains to opportunities. My immediate response is to thank them for their courage in reaching out and provide encouragement as I have been in their shoe’s multiple times in my career. Each time it brought life lessons about myself as I prepared, re-invented and re-emerged from each unique situation.
